bedazzled

t-shirts here are hilarious with sayings like guns and moses, UZI does it, tuna shirts (instead of puma it says tuna. with a big tuna). i'm going to bring so many home. I bought a really cool silky wrap skirt. it's even reversible! next on the list are some Jru cruisers, a genie lamp, olive oil, belly dancing outfit, a ceramic bowl, and maybe a chalice, for diet coke of course. diet coke in a goblet; been there done that. diet coke in a chalice? oh, you KNOW i'm keepin it classy over here.
*the fact that a goblet and a chalice are the same thing is irrelevant

so, remember how i said that art history was sortof my thing? yeah, well, it's REALLY my thing. Even just art in general, although understanding the historical context makes it that much more fascinating. A group of us went to the Dome of the Rock today and I loved it!! We didn't go inside, OBVIOUSLY, but I just loved walking around the temple mount. the mosaics and detail on the dome of the rock are insane!! the most intense and vivid hues of gold, BLUE, yellow everywhere. but, seriously, the mosaics!!! i can't get over them. the best ones are the ones you can't see at first. they're under the arches of the entrance doors. also, written arabic is so pretty and elegant.

you know you're not in America when you see guards on a daily basis holding huge guns as if they're a common accessory. such blatant security reminds me everyday that i'm living within the israeli/palestinian conflict. i'm in Jerusalem. the Holy Land. Israel. Palestine. the Middle East. whatever you want to call it. i'm here and i'm still dazed

  1. Chrissy, you are going to have the summer of your life. Jerusalem was a summer for my soul.
